The BaoYin High-Speed Railway connects Baotou City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with Yinchuan City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. This is China's first high-speed railway connecting two autonomous regions of ethnic minorities. The railway stretches from Baotou Station to Yinchuan Station, with a total length of 519 kilometers and 13 stations, designed for a speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

The Gandershan Tunnel is the only tunnel project on the BaoYin High-Speed Railway and is one of the key projects in the entire project. It has a total length of 12,095 meters and is a double-line long tunnel, with a maximum burial depth of about 294.4 meters. This tunnel is constructed by China Railway Tenth Group Co., Ltd. The geology of Gandershan Mountain is complex, with varied terrain, including mountainous ravines and dense fault structures. The tunnel crosses 17 fault fracture zones, and the overall stability of the surrounding rock mass is poor. It is also close to the remains of the Qin and Han Great Wall. It must pass through lead mine goaf areas and a national-level Four-Unity Wood Nature Reserve, making construction highly risky and difficult.

LanHi LGM312H arch anchor trolley assists in the construction of the Gandershan Tunnel on the BaoYin High-Speed Railway

The LanHi LGM312H intelligent arch anchor integrated trolley adopts an engineering chassis, equipped with a double anchor rod system. The whole machine has functions such as four-wheel steering, four-wheel drive, two-way driving, diesel-electric dual-power system, electric construction, and diesel-driven emergency operation. The three-arm remote control meets the requirements of prefabricated arch installation, various benching operations, arch positioning adjustment, and can handle excavation and welding operations during arch installation, showing strong adaptability to tunnel construction.

On April 29, 2023, the first incline well of the Gandershan Tunnel, undertaken by China Railway Tenth Group, successfully reached the top. The plan is to complete the entire tunnel's penetration by December 2024 and lay the ballastless track by May 2025.
